Database files

To use the monthly Reference Manager database, download the monthly file from the website. Then double click on it to extract it, and save it in the directory containing your other Reference Manager database files. (Extracting will give two files: a .rmd data file and a .rmx index file). To search the monthly database, open Reference Manager and select the database. To transfer new citations from the monthly database to a master database, you need to have both the databases open in Reference Manager. You can then select “References – Copy between databases”, and choose whether to copy the highlighted reference, all marked references, all unmarked references, or all references in the list.

The monthly database can be downloaded as a text file in RIS format, for import into other database programs, by clicking here.

The NPIS (Birmingham Unit) uses Reference Manager Version 11. See the explanatory Read me (.pdf) file if you need to produce a Version 9 database from the monthly database files.
