Antifreeze and screenwash products

Ingesting even small amounts of the methanol and glycols contained in many antifreeze and screenwash preparations can have serious consequences. The prompt administration of the appropriate antidote is essential. These chemicals are a common reason for referral to NPIS consultants.

Toxic alcohol poisoning continues to be problematic and NPIS is conducting further audits in this area. It supports prevention strategies, such as the addition of bittering agents.
